During the assembly the following indications must be observed:
The fronts of the shaft flanges and companion flanges must be free of anti-corrosive, dust, grease or paint in order to guarantee a safe connection.
Check position of the yokes (1) of the shaft and observe the arrow markings (2), they must be in alignment. The spline components are matched for a smooth fitting and must not be interchanged or remounted at a different angle.

Generally driveshafts are connected to the units by companion flanges. The accurate running of a driveshaft requires certain tolerances for the axial and radial run-out. Check the lack of perpendicular and eccentricity according to the tolerance of the follow table.
Do not turn the joints of the driveshafts with assembly levers because this may damage the grease nipples or seal arrangement on the bearings.
To connect the driveshaft to the companion flanges it is imperative to use high-tensile bolts of the quality 10.9 and the corresponding all-metal self-locking nuts of the quality 10.
We recommend to use:
- Hexagon bolt with short thread DIN 931/10.9
- Hexagon nut self-locking DIN 980/10
Tighten bolts crosswise to insure proper seating of pilot and flange face. Use torque wrench, tighten bolts with recommended tightening torque. Lubricate the bolts lightly.
Regreasing must be carried out until the grease escapes out from the seals of the bearings.
For the re-lubrication of cardan shafts use a llithiumcomplex grease of the following specification only: DIN 51818-KP2N-20.
It must be ensured that greases with a different type of saponification are never used, because lithium and sodium greased for example are incompatible.
Do not use grease with molycote additives!.
Clean the grease nipples before relubricating.
Do not grease with too high pressure or hard jerks. Max. permissible lubricating pressure 15 bar.
Regreasing intervals recommended:
- Every 50.000 Km or after 1 year:
Commercial Vehicles in long distance traffic or similarly used vehicles
- Every 25.000 Km or after 6 months:
Commercial vehicles in mixed road, urban traffic and similar vehicles
- Every 50.000 Km or after 6 months:
Buses on long distance routes
- Every 25.000 Km or after 3 months
Buses in urban use
- Every 12.500 Km or after 3 months*
Commercial vehicles used on sites, communal vehicles, construction machines, cranes, vehicles used in agriculture and forestry, military vehicles and similar
*If driven through water shorter greasing intervals are recommended.
